Instrumental examinations
Modern instrumental examinations that help doctors at Medical Diagnostic Centre to make an exact diagnosis and prescribe an appropriate treatment are as follows:
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging;
- Computed Tomography;
- Radiography;
- Fluoroscopy;
- Mammography;
- Echoscopy;
- Endoscopy;
- Electroencephalography;
- Electrocardiography (strain and rest);
- Halter's Monitoring;
- Clinical Physiology;
- Gynaecology;
- Ophthalmology;
- Ear, nose, throat and many others.
The more powerful Magnetic Resonance Imaging, the more exact the diagnosis
At Medical Diagnostic Centre the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (hereinafter - MRI) examinations are performed with the help of an extremely powerful (1.5 Tesla), high-resolution, close-type magnetic resonance tomograph Signa HiSpeed LX (General Electric) of a new generation.
Examinations provide an extremely accurate and detailed view of the internal organs, which helps doctors to promptly determine the state and alterations of brain and spinal cord, face and neck, internal organs (stomach, pelvis), limbs, joints, blood vessels and soft tissues.
MRI examinations are irreplaceable when determining lesions of mussels, joints, meniscus, tendons, ligaments (break, split), state of spinal cord, bone marrow, inflammation of brain and spinal cord, multiple sclerosis and some other diseases.
MRI examinations are highly informative in diagnosing oncologic diseases of various organs and estimating their extension (metastasis).
Special MRI programs allow an accurate early stage diagnosis of brain stroke, disorders of brain circulation, aneurisms and others.
MRI examinations are also applied when observing disease course and assessing treatment efficiency.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging takes 0.5-1.5 hours and is absolutely safe for both a patient and a doctor, since its functions are based on electromagnetic waves.
Before MRI examinations, it is necessary to consult a doctor radiologist regarding indications and contraindications.
Computed Tomography - quickly and precisely
Using computed tomography machine of 128 layers (further – CT) Somatom Definition AS+ (Siemens) are performed routine and the most advanced cardiological, neurological and oncological computed tomography imaging. Cerebrovascular disorders, lesions occurring due to different traumas, cardiovascular diseases, congenital and acquired spine pathology, condition of the internal organs, early stages of tumours of the internal organs and their outspread (metastases), diseases of lungs, bones and many other organs are diagnosed quickly and accurately. Bone density is measured applying CT, which is important assessing risk and degree of osteoporosis (reduction of bone mineral density).
Computed tomography machine Somatom Definition AS+ operates especially quickly: in one rotation that lasts for only 0.30 seconds even 128 layers are scanned. The speed is especially important in case of accidents, diagnosing bone fractures, vascular lesions, cerebral trauma, as well as in cerebral infarction diagnostics. Using this machine a patient who is 2 meters high can be scanned from head to foot in 10 seconds.
Speed and unique patient safety system embedded in the machine enables to reduce irradiance of a patient even up to 68 percent comparing with other computed tomography machines.
Somatom Definition AS+ advantage – it provides possibility to diagnose accurately more diseases applying non-invasive approach, i.e. not traumatizing a patient. Non-invasive examination of a colon – virtual colonoscopy can be performed using this machine. Comprehensive picture and evaluation of a colon is obtained, indicating lesions or suspicious sites.
Patients with cardiac arrhythmia can be examined using this computed tomography machine as it eliminates picture deformations caused by movements.
Adjusting examination extent and exposition regimen both obese patients (weight up to 300 kg) and children can be examined quickly and safely.
Somatom Definition AS+ software highly extends computed tomography possibilities.
- Osteo CT program measures mineral density of bones.
- Dental program allows assessing the state of jawbone before surgeries of implantation of jawbone or teeth.
- Cardio program performs non-interventional examinations of heart coronary arteries, during which the state of the blood vessels and heart muscle size of heart cavities and aorta aneurism is assessed.
- Calcium Scoring program helps to determine calcium quantity in heart coronary arteries, evaluate atherosclerotic alterations of heart coronary arteries. Contrast substance is not used during this examination.
Computed tomography is a primary examination, when examination is necessary in no time, when a patient is unconscious or attached to equipment supporting vital functions, when MRI is not possible due to contraindications.
Endoscopic examinations, procedures
Endoscopy refers to looking at internal organs from inside of body while using a special instrument, called endoscope. During this examination, state of an organ or its mucous membrane is examined. If necessary, biopsy is taken; this is important while diagnosing cancerous diseases of the organs mentioned. During examinations, the performed therapeutic procedures are as follows: stop of bleeding, removal of polyps or foreign bodies, evaluation of Helicobacter pylori bacteria in stomach, ligation of haemorrhoid knots.
The endoscopic examinations available at Medical Diagnostic Centre:
- Gastroscopy
- Rectoscopy
- Colonoscopy
- Capsule Endoscopy
- Bronchoscopy
In compliance with the patient's state and his/her request, sedation (prescription of sedative medicine) can be applied during all the endoscopic examinations (except for rectoscopy). A doctor anesthesiologist-resuscitator supervises the course of examination and the patient experience nothing unpleasant.
