Laboratory examinations
Five modern laboratories operating at Medical Diagnostic centre's (hereinafter - MDC) Laboratory Diagnostic Centre are as follows: Laboratory of Clinical Examinations, Laboratory of Clinical Biochemistry, Laboratory of Pathology, Laboratory of Immunofermentic Examinations and Laboratory of Molecular Diagnostic (PGR).
Here, over 200 thousand various laboratory examinations are carried out annually: the examinations vary from regular blood or urine tests to the most sophisticated oncologic markers and molecular diagnostics.
- Laboratory of Clinical Examinations carries out blood, blood cells and haemoglobin examinations as well as various tests of urine and excrements, skin and nail fungus, rotavirus, adenovirus and many others.
- Laboratory of Clinical Biochemistry carries out various blood and urine tests, including those highly important when diagnosing and controlling diabetes mellitus, it also determines atherosclerosis development markers, significant to diagnostics of myocardial infarction or brain stroke.
- Laboratory of Cytopathologic Examinations carries out biopsy and cytological tests of various organs, which are important for diagnosing oncologic diseases.
- Laboratory of Immunofermentic Examinations carries out tests of cancer markers (Tumor M2-PK, PSA, LPSA, HCG, AFP, CA 125, CA 19-9, CEA, TG and others). The tests of thyroid function, allergic or infectious diseases (encephalitis, Lyme disease, hepatitis C) are also carried out.
- Laboratory of Molecular Diagnostic (PGR) uses highly sensitive methodology to detect the causes of sexually transmitted diseases, periodontitis, tuberculosis. Tests are carried out on all types of highly risky HPV (Human Papilloma Virus), which are of great importance when assessing risk of cervical cancer.
The superior quality of the lab tests and their reliability are ensured through internal and external quality systems. The accuracy of the MDC lab tests is controlled by the quality system LABQUALITY (Finland), which is certified under the ISO 9002 standard.
