MEDICINOS DIAGNOSTIKOS CENTRAS

Vaccines for travelers

When travelling to some regions and trying to avoid dangerous illnesses, it is necessary to get inoculation or start a preventive medicine application (e.g. in order to avoid malaria).

At Medical Diagnostic and Treatment Centre, experienced doctors of infectious diseases assess all risk factors of the trip as well as traveller's state of health and prepare an optimal preventive plan against infectious diseases.

One should consider applying for inoculation 4-6 weeks prior to the trip, since sufficient immunity after inoculation emerges only after a certain period. The inoculation is recommended according to the following factors:

  • destination country;
  • living conditions in the country;
  • duration of the trip;
  • purpose of the trip;
  • traveller's state of health;
  • previous vaccines.

The most common inoculations are against hepatitis A, yellow fever, typhoid fever. The inoculation is obligatory if you are going to spend your holidays in Central Africa Republic, Cameroon, Congo, Ghana, Ivory Cost, Rwanda and other distant regions. Malaria is a parlous disease, transmitted by mosquitoes. It is prevalent in South Africa, Mexico, Central Africa and India. There is no vaccine against this disease, but medicine can grant an aid.

Note: C - obligatory inoculation, R - recommended inoculation, A - considering risks (long-term or frequent trips, countryside, season)

Immunity caused by majority of vaccines last for 10 years. After this period, the inoculation must be repeated. The timely re-inoculation protects from the following widely spread diseases: tetanus, pertussis, measles, diphtheria. It is noticeable that people in some Asian and African countries are still ill with poliomyelitis.

All vaccines must be certified in an international certificate of vaccines, available at Medical Diagnostic and Treatment Centre.
