Prof. Valantinas performs abdominal, pelvic and breast ultrasound. He specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of digestive tract and liver diseases.
Prof. Valantinas is a professor at Vilnius University, he is the author of more than ten different teaching material publications and monographs, and has published more than 80 articles in medical journals and the popular press. Prof. Valantinas is director of the Centre of Hepatology, Gastroenterology and Dietetics at Vilnius University Faculty of Medicine.
He has participated in residencies in the USA, Switzerland and Sweden.
Prof. Valantinas is president of the Lithuanian Gastroenterological Association, member of the World Gastroenterology Organisation and the United European Gastroenterology, and the European Association for the Study of Liver (EASL).
1977 Vilnius University Faculty of Medicine, doctor gastroenterologist.
1983 Vilnius University. Doctoral candidate thesis “Clinical appraisal of the lithogenic characteristics of the bile” defended (nostrification of doctoral degree in 1993).
1993 Vilnius University. Awarded the academic title of Associate Professor.
2001 Vilnius University. Habilitation thesis “Modern differential diagnosis and treatment of portal hypertension and its complications”.
2005 Vilnius University. Awarded the title of Professor.
Prof. Valantinas has been practising as a doctor gastroenterologist since 1976.
