Examinations for sexually transmitted diseases (STD)

Sexually transmitted diseases (STD) are diseases that are transmitted from one person to another one by sexual contact (intercourse) (vaginal, oral, anal). STD can also be transmitted by infected mother to a newborn baby during pregnancy or delivery.

After getting sexually transmitted infection signs or symptoms of the disease can be absent for some time, therefore the infected person may be unaware about the present infection. In some cases signs of the disease can manifest after a week or month or even later after an unsafe sexual intercourse.

If untreated or if inadequately treated sexually transmitted diseases can cause long-term or irreversible health disorders, such as obstruction of fallopian tubes, infertility. Timely diagnosed and successfully treated STD usually resolve without any negative consequences for health.

Sexually transmitted diseases can be diagnosed from penis excretions, scraping from vagina, cervix, mouth, anus, urine and sperm.

In is important to know that when one of partners is diagnosed with STD, examinations and treatment are also required for another partner.

Many of sexually transmitted infections we diagnose in 1-3 working days.

If you wish, in our centre the examinations can be carried out in anonymous way, just inform the personnel of our Centre

Each STD has different treatment - with medicines, ointments, injections. It is important to complete the treatment course as well as to treat the partner. Sexual intercourses should avoided during the treatment.
