At our Centre, the geneticist consults couples on infertility and consanguineous marriage, adults on gender identity, women who have a risk of developing breast cancer and pregnant women.

Having evaluated your medical history, the geneticist may prescribe the following exams:

  • screening for changes in chromosomes (for women and men);
  • screening for genes, responsible for the functioning of the coagulation system and folate absorption
    (for women);
  • screening for hereditary genetic diseases when planning a pregnancy.

The most common diseases and ailments: Repeated miscarriage, geriatric pregnancy, infertility, risk of breast cancer, penatal suspicion of congenital abnormalities, hemochromatosis (iron overload genetic disorder), family history of oncological diseases.

Consider seeing a geneticist, if you are planning a pregnancy and have risks such as:

  • future parents or close relatives have genetic disorders;
  • future parents or close relatives have genetic disorders;
  • terminated pregnancy due to a foetal genetic disorder;
  • a child with a genetic disorder in the family;
  • two or more miscarriages;
  • failure to conceive for a year or more.

We recommend consulting a geneticist, if:

  • you conceived or will give birth at 35 or older;
  • you conceived or will give birth at 35 or older;
  • the father is older than 42 years old;
  • you have fever >38.5°C during pregnancy;
  • you take certain medication or have an infectious disease;
  • there is increased risk for the baby’s health and development (radiological exams during pregnancy, working with dangerous, chemical substances, medication during pregnancy).
