Treatment of myomas at our Centre is safe and reliable. We will provide a tailormade solution adjusted to your individual needs in order to avoid consequences of prolonged and profuse bleeding, infertility, miscarriage, preterm labour.

We offer all the latest advanced methods for myoma treatment – new generation medicines or minimally invasive surgeries – hysteroscopy, laparoscopy performed through the vagina or a minimal incision in the abdominal cavity. In rare cases, we remove myomas using laparotomy.

Before recommending the most suitable treatment, we perform a vaginal echoscopic (ultrasonic) examination, and whatever laboratory tests are required. Usually, you can start moderate physical daily activity immediately after the surgery, but we recommend resting for 1-2 days.

Necessary tests before the surgery:

  • General blood test;
  • Blood coagulation test (APTT);
  • Blood glucose test;
  • Electrocardiogram (ECG) with evaluation;

The patient can bring test results from other institutions or have them performed at the Medical Diagnostic and Treatment Centre within 2 hours. Check the price of the tests performed at the Centre. The tests must be done no earlier than 14 days before the surgery.

Hysteroscopic surgery is performed through the vagina. An observation device with a camera and light is inserted and the location of myoma is defined. With the help of another device – resectoscope – the myoma is destroyed and removed through the cervix.

Laparoscopic surgery requires minimal 2-3 mm incisions in the abdominal cavity for the insertion of laparoscopic devices. One of the devices is equipped with a video camera. During the surgery, the surgeons observe the procedure on the screen. Myomas are removed through incisions in the abdomen, the incisions are closed with stitches.

Which method is used – hysteroscopy or laparoscopy – is decided by the physician depending on myoma location and characteristics.

FAQ

Symptoms may differ and depend on the localisation of the myoma. Profuse and prolonged bleeding is among the commonest complaints. However, there could be other symptoms, e.g. if the myoma is on the front wall of the uterus and grows rapidly pressing on the bladder, the patient can suffer from frequent urination.

They are different pathological diseases, the only relation is that both are gynaecological

It could be, though the genetic influence is not considered that big. Myoma formation depends more on age and a hormonal imbalance.

Surgery is firstly recommended when there are suspicions of a malignant tumour (rapid growth, large in size). It is also recommended when the patient is intolerant to other treatment, or other treatment is ineffective and the patient’s quality of life quality is affected by the myoma.

It is not necessary. Each situation should be evaluated separately – new generation medicines could be efficient, or the myoma could be removed by sewing up the uterus wall and preserving the uterus

Myoma is rather uncomplicated to diagnose during the ultrasound (echoscopic) examination.
