PRP is used to treat the following conditions: osteoarthritis – “The wear and tear” of knee, hip, spine (cervical and lumbar) and ankle joint cartilage, rotator cuff tears, elbow tendinosis (tennis and golf elbow) – chronic tendon degeneration, heel/foot pain (plantar fasciitis); degeneration and partial rupture of the plantar fascia, achilles tendinitis – degeneration of the tendon fibres, inflammation, patellar tendinitis – degeneration in the tendon, arthritic changes/pain – a slowly progressive non-inflammatory condition causing the cartilage to break down.

Useful information

  • Immediately after the procedure you may feel pain and discomfort, please make arrangements for getting home safely;

  • In order to reduce discomfort, you may be provided with an ice-pack or have your limb placed in an elevated position;

  • The healing response will be better if physical exertion is avoided the day after the procedure;

  • A week later the patient will start a rehabilitation programme.

  • You must tell the doctor if you are allergic to lidocaine or bupivacaine.
  • If you are not sure, please ask your family physician.
