Adult patients are consulted on ALL abdominal organs and abdominal wall diseases at the surgery centre, in one of the Medical Diagnostics and Treatment Centre units.

The most common diseases and illnesses: inguinal hernias, abdominal wall (femoral, umbilical, postsurgical) hernias, peritoneal adhesions, chronic anal fissure, gallstones, gallbladder inflammation (cholecystitis), acute, chronic appendicitis, cutaneous and subcutaneous abscess, benign tumours of skin and subcutaneous tissue.

Treatment. The Centre’s abdominal surgeons prefer the least invasive endoscopic and laparoscopic surgeries, after which the recovery is faster, the patient does not feel much pain, wound complications are rarer, and scars are very small or almost invisible. Usually the patient can return home on the same day after the surgery, or after 1-2 days if the case is more complicated. Our abdominal surgeons, if needed, can immediately consult both their colleagues, and doctors of other specialities.

We examine, diagnose and prescribe the treatment within 1 day.*

*However, sometimes a final diagnosis might need an examination that takes more than 1 day.

Successful treatment of some abdominal diseases requires close cooperation between the abdominal surgeon and echoscopy specialists, coloproctologists, etc.

FAQ (frequently asked questions)

Consult an abdominal surgery doctor in case of:

·         Sudden and strong pain in the abdomen,

·         Pain under right the ribs (characteristic of bile duct diseases),

·         Round ligament pain in the upper abdomen (characteristic of pancreatic diseases),

·         Cramping pain accompanied by bloating, gurgling (characteristic of intestinal obstruction).

Those symptoms often go together with nausea, vomiting, fever. Usually they start suddenly.

In case of other common diseases, such as inguinal hernia, or gallstones, when the help of an abdominal surgeon is needed, you will be referred by a family or an internal medicine doctor.

Firstly, the doctor will listen to your complaints, evaluate the tests which have been carried out and perform an abdominal echoscopy.

Together with the surgeon, you will discuss the further treatment possibilities, surgery procedure and postsurgical regime.

Do not delay. Take care of yourself.
