Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a special scan in which magnetic field and radio frequency waves are used.
At the Radiology Centre, which is one of the divisions of the Medical Diagnostic and Treatment Centre, MRI examinations are carried out using a powerful (1.5 tesla) high-resolution closed-type magnetic resonance imaging unit, Optima MR360 Advance (General Electric).

The examination is painless and performed quickly: if you come to us for an MRI, you will usually spend between 20 minutes and two hours at the centre if you want to be provided with the results immediately after the examination.
We are also open on Saturdays from 07:00 to 19:00. If the test was carried out on a Saturday, consult the specialist who performed the test about the results (generally, the results are prepared within three working days).

MRI examinations do not have a radiation side effect detrimental to the human body.
MRI shows a particularly precise and detailed image of the structure of the internal organs that helps the doctors to quickly determine the condition and any changes in the encephalon and spinal cord, face and neck, internal (abdominal and pelvic) organs, extremities, joints, blood vessels, and soft tissue. We do not provide MRI of the lungs and heart.
MRI examinations are highly informative when diagnosing oncological diseases of various organs and assessing any metastases. These examinations are irreplaceable when diagnosing damage to muscles, menisci, tendons and ligaments (breaking or rupture), condition of the medulla, multiple sclerosis, and some other diseases.

Recommended weight of subject – up to 125 kg.

No special preparation is required for an MRI examination.

Magnetic resonance imaging unit Optima MR360 Advance (General Electric)

Our MRI unit allows us to perform more examinations without a contrast enhancement, resulting in a faster and less expensive examination with the added benefit of the patient not experiencing any potential discomfort. Generally, contrasting is always required when performing an abdominal and pelvic MRI.

Special MRI software allows for improvement in the image quality in case the patient moves during the examination. New technologies reduce noise detected by the patient in the course of examination.

The ECO technology installed can reduce the energy consumption by 34% compared to older MRI units.

4 reasons

why it is worth choosing us

  • We will perform the most common examinations of the lumbar area, joints or encephalon (without a contrast agent) within 20 minutes.
  • Special MRI software ensures consistent imaging quality in the event the patient stirs.
  • We can perform more examinations without a contrast enhancement, saving the patient’s time and money.
  • Examinations are carried out by qualified specialists with extensive experience.

Good to know

Our MRI unit can be used to perform a magnetic resonance elastography of the liver aimed at assessing liver stiffness. This is important when determining the gravity of lesions, planning treatment tactics, monitoring the process dynamics and prescribing treatment. It is a non-invasive examination, which can serve as an alternative to liver biopsy.

Special MRI software allows for the accurate diagnosis of early-stage strokes, brain blood circulation disorders, aneurysms, etc. MRI examinations are used for diagnostics as well as monitoring the course of the disease and assessing the effectiveness of treatment.

Contraindications for magnetic resonance imaging:

  • metal implants (containing iron, nickel or cobalt)
  • cardiac stimulator, subcutaneous defibrillator, insulin, morphine and other medicine pumps
  • metal staples after surgery
  • brain fluid drain
  • artificial heart valves or blood vessel implants (filters, catheters, stents)
  • eye or ear implants, joint or extremity implants
  • metal implants used to treat bone fractures
  • foreign bodies in the body – fragments, bullets etc.
  • any other electrical, mechanical or magnetic implant not mentioned above
  • claustrophobia
  • patient’s weight above 125 kg
  • relative contraindication – pregnancy (first 12 weeks) and lactation period
